JC Services & Son Ltd
Back to case studies

JC Services & Son Ltd are a private and commercial refurbishment company who specialise in disability adaptions. For over 25 years, they’ve been upgrading properties to make them more accessible and fit for purpose. From their base in the East Riding of Yorkshire, they undertake approximately 760 planned and emergency adaptions per year.
In 2017, they contacted AMC Asbestos for support. They knew that when working in premises that were built before the year 2000, when the use of asbestos was banned, the hazardous material could be present. Before undertaking any work in these buildings, a refurbishment survey is a legal requirement to ensure no harmful asbestos fibres will be released during the planned work.
On behalf of JC Services, AMC Asbestos arrange and carry out our work discreetly within residential properties so that we do not disturb other tenants. We identify on a case-to-case basis of any asbestos containing materials (ACMs) in the areas requiring renovation. Our surveyors identify the position, type, and condition of ACMs in these premises and recommend what action must be taken to ensure the continued safety of everyone who lives or works in the building.
In isolated cases, AMC has been called upon to attend site on the same or next day due to a tenant being taken ill and the property adaptation must happen very quickly. For these cases, AMC have been able to provide the report the very same or the next day.
Working with JC Services to make spaces more accessible and user-friendly has been an incredibly rewarding experience for the team at AMC Asbestos. Their work really is life-changing, and it is an honour to help them confidently meet their asbestos obligations.
